Faiveley Transport wins a major order to supply brakes for ICX high speed trains in Germany

Siemens and Bombardier have awarded Faiveley Transport a contract to supply brake equipment for Deutsche Bahn’s new ICx high speed trains.

Faiveley Transport will supply brake equipment for a first firm order of 130 trains, with an option for 90 additional ones. The framework agreement between Siemens and Deutsche Bahn also includes another option to reach a total potential of 300 ICx trains.

Delivery for the first 130 trains will start in 2013 with four pre-serial trains while serial delivery will begin in 2015.

The order includes bogie-brake equipment with magnetic track brakes, air generation and air treatment with oil free compressors and brake control electro-pneumatic equipment. Specific technical solutions were designed to accompany Siemens in providing unrivalled levels of reliability, environmental compatibility and comfort.

“Dedicated sales and engineering teams, based in Germany, have worked hard over the last two years to build stronger relationships with Siemens and Bombardier. The coordination at local level, our adaptable solutions and fully compliant technical proposals were highlighted as significant factors that led to the contract win.” said Thierry Barel, Chief Executive Officer of Faiveley Transport.

This historical win highlights Faiveley Transport’s ambition to develop a stronger presence on the German market, where it already employs over 800 staff across its three industrial sites.
